Overalls and Lace

Top: Forever XXI | Overalls: Free People | Booties: Via Neroli | Clutch: Saks Fifth Avenue

Finally a blog post for December, now that it's half way through the month! I've been so sick lately and my routine has consisted of work and NyQuil.  After church on Sunday, I went to Barracks Row to try out a brunch spot {Medium Rare} with my sister.  The weather has been really nice lately and most days, I haven't  even needed a jacket.  Im in love with these overalls, and I LOVE finding ways to make them more feminine and feel more like my style.  I have so many Christmas activities to catch up on; I can't believe Christmas is next week!  Tomorrow, I'm flying down to Charleston to spend a long Christmas weekend with my family and I cannot wait!  Hope you have a great weekend!

Black & Grey

Dress: Anthropologie | Cardigan | Booties: Via Spiga, similar

It's officially freezing in D.C.  I wasn't ready for this weekend's temperatures, and I was way too cold when I took these pictures on Sunday in Old Town. I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is on Thursday {How'd that happen?}  One of my very favorite holidays, I  can't wait to make my pumpkin pie.  Since it's the busiest time of year for me at work, I decided not to go home & made reservations {this is a first, and I'm freaking out about it!}  I am excited to spend the holiday with my sister & I'm so thankful that she's here with me.  I hope you have a great Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Pullover: Anthropologie | Skirt: Anthropologie | Heels: Steve Madden

It's already Wednesday…I had this past weekend off {which was amazing} but I didn't get a single thing accomplished; this is beginning to be a sad trend here for me.  I got to check out Union Market, Eastern Market, and went to a Food event, EmporiYUM  on Saturday which was very cool.  On Sunday, I went to church and brunch with my sister, and then we went to the National Mall to walk around.  I always love going to the monuments, and I have so much admiration and respect for everyone who has served and is serving in the military to keep us safe.  I'm heartbroken by recent events in the world, but I'm praying God gives our leaders wisdom and for everyone in Paris.

Fall Neutrals

Top: Target, similar | Jeans: AG Tomboy, darker wash | Hat: Anthropologie Heels: Kate Spade, similar |

Happy Wednesday.   There never seems to be enough time to do all of the things that I want to do.  I've been so busy at work getting ready for Christmas business & trying to get my apartment together & exploring D.C. before cold weather like I've never experienced before is here.  I don't have cable or internet yet so in my free time, I've started jotting down the crazy things that happen to me here so that I won't forget them, and believe me there are so many.  Like the other night, I met the sweetest Uber driver in the world because I didn't want to drive in the city late at night.  I had to cancel Uber 4 times before I got a lady driver {I'm so ridiculous}, but we became besties on the way.  Last weekend, I went to my first black tie event downtown and had an amazing time, any excuse to get dressed up is a fun night for me.  & I finally have barstools!  Unfortunately, they're a little too tall for my bar, so depending on the height of my guest, they may have to hunch over to have dinner, oh well.  This is such a basic neutral outfit that I wore to brunch one day last week.  I LOVE these jeans; I  sized up in them so that they'd be even more of a boyfriend fit, and they're so comfortable to wear for a change.  Enjoy your week!

Cozy Sweaters & Leather

Pullover: Anthropologie | Leggings: Anthropologie | Booties: Via Spiga, similar | Clutch: Saks Fifth Avenue

Hello!  It's been over a month since my last post {I promise I've been wearing cute things} That's the longest I've gone without posting in almost two years.  {I've missed it so much} I just got back to the city from a much needed trip to the Outer Banks with my family.  A week of relaxing and spending time with everyone really spoiled me.  I moved into my official apartment here a day before my vacation, so there is still so much to do!  This weekend  I found every excuse I could to explore the city instead! {priorities!}  I had no idea that so much was involved in this process.  I never doubted that I was capable of doing these things, I just never envisioned doing things like apartment shopping, building furniture, budgeting, cooking, etc. by myself.  I'm having an interesting and sometimes fun time learning though.  Occasionally, I'll have "ahh I can't believe I actually did this and I'm finally here" moments.  I've wanted to live here for so long that it feels surreal at times.  But there are areas that have lacked the glamour I initially dreamed about.  I'm currently sleeping on an air mattress, eating meals while standing at my bar {until I get real furniture} I've wrecked my car in my parking garage, had a flat tire, gotten lost countless times, had to learn how to sleep through sirens, yelling etc.  gone on perhaps the worst first date of my life, and cried until I've had to laugh at myself way more than once. My mom recently told me that I'd look back on some of these experience and laugh, and laugh a lot.  It's already kind of funny & despite the less than perfect details, there's no place I'd rather be.  Anyway, I've been living in cozy sweaters and leather this fall and it's so beautiful here.  Sorry for the personal tangent.  Have a Happy Monday!

Happy Monday!  I'm pretty excited about the FLARE coming back--These are my first and first ever PILCRO denim purchase. I'm in love with the high waist, extreme dark wash, and the wide hem!  I paired them with more of a crop top so that I balanced proportions and to show off the details at top. I hope you're having a great Labor Day weekend.

Colorful Crossbody

Tee: Casual Friday | Denim: AG | Heels: Louise et Cie | Crossbody: Present from my BFF

So I've decided my favorite thing about moving so far is getting to see all of my best friends so we can celebrate before I leave!  One of my sweetest friends gave me this gorgeous Egyptian purse when we had our "reunion."  I'm moving to Washington D.C. next Friday!! I am so excited {and nervous} -- I'm finally doing it! I've been praying about this for over a year and know that this is where God wants me.  I can't count the ways God has shown his love and the things he has taught me during the last few months.  I am amazed by his goodness and how everything fell into place as he worked this out for me {though not on my time, but HIS}  I'm excited to embrace a city that I'm so passionate about, and I hope it will love me right back!
